Did we need any more evidence that the Vatican is an organization devoted to keeping power in the hands of men? Make that “power in the hands of hetero men”. No, wait…. “power in the hands of ostensibly hetero men.” Uh…. “power in the hands of ostensibly hetero LGBT-hating men?”
In light of this earth-shattering revelation I would like to propose a new name: The He-Man Woman-Haters Club. The real He-Man Woman Haters Club had members that were frightened little boys. That seems just about right.

The Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) represents the largest and most active group of nuns in the United States, many of who work on the front lines of poverty – in soup kitchens and homeless shelters – and who have turned heads with their acceptance of the gay and lesbian community and female priesthood, among other things.
Last year, the Vatican reprimanded the group, deeming many of their positions problematic within the context of the Catholic faith. Pope Benedict XVI rebuked the group’s leadership at the time, and approved a plan to transfer control of the group to three U.S. bishops.
